wild east

let's start with a play review. i went to the lovely redstitch theatre wednesday night to see 'wild east'. i had high expectations, given that the first redstitch play i saw was nothing short of touching. i hate to admit i was incredibly disappointed. wild east told the story of three people who, over the course of the long 90 mintues, were revealed in all their altered, spiteful glory. whilst i felt there were moments of light humour and the acting was acceptable, i also feel the writing let it down tremendously. not enough realism to carry the jokes, a shift in style late in the piece that threw it into disarray, and a lack of script direction clear enough to make any of their journeys tangible. but don't take my word for it. see it for yourself. after all, theatre should not suffer at my fingertips.
